Baseball Dugout Fire Damages Items At Westbrook School: Blotter

Robert Punzalan, 43, of the 9900 block of Linda Lane, Des Plaines, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 7:55 p.m. March 26 in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of May 10 in Skokie.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN AUTO

Darius Wright, 18, of the 8600 block of Emerald Avenue, Chicago, is accused of possession of a stolen auto, driving without a license, leaving a scene of an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 5:01 p.m. March 27 following an investigation into a hit-and-run traffic accident in the 2300 block of Capital Drive. He was held for a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse on March 28.
SPEEDING OVER 35 MPH
Joel Chandy, 28, of the 3300 block of Glenlake Drive, Glenview, is accused of speeding more than 35 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 11:41 p.m. March 27 in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released after posting bond and assigned a court date of April 13 in Skokie.
DRIVING WITH A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE
Jose M. Contreras, 26, of the 1600 block of Greenwood Avenue, Glenview, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked license, and was arrested at 9:37 p.m. March 28 in the 3200 block of West Lake Avenue. He posted $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of April 27 in Skokie.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- A resident in the 1700 block of Pickwick Lane reported at 11:50 a.m. March 23 that a wooden fence surrounding the sewer drain in the area was damaged. Estimated damage is $150.
- A resident called police at 6:23 p.m. March 25 to report a window to a vehicle was reported broken while it was parked at Community Park West, 1001 Zenith Drive. Total reported loss is $400.
THEFT
- An employee of a business in the 2700 block of Old Willow Road called police at 12:35 p.m. March 23 to report after reviewing video surveillance footage they observed a male take items from an outside donation area. Reported loss is $50.
- A business owner reported at 11:29 a.m. March 23 while doing landscaping in the 800 block of Juniper Road someone stole a chainsaw from the truck parked on the street. Estimated loss $300.
- A resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive called police at 7:04 p.m. March 23 to report two packages were stolen from the lobby of their building. Total loss is $202.14.
- A Palatine resident reported at 8:25 p.m. March 25 the theft of cash from a locker room at the Glenview Ice Center, 1851 Landwehr Road. Total reported loss is $150.
- A resident in the 4200 block of Cove Lane called police at 12:31 a.m. March 29 to report a small purse containing multiple pieces of jewelry was missing from the residence. Total reported loss is $4,020.
RETAIL THEFT
- An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road called police at 11:49 a.m. March 23 to report a female concealed several over-the-counter medications and left the store without paying for the items. Estimated loss $543.60.
- An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 5:07 p.m. March 28 a male stole an unknown amount of items. Total reported loss is unknown at this time.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Mary Kay Lane resident reported at 3:12 p.m. March 23 someone made an unauthorized charge on their credit card. Total reported loss is $400.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
The owner of a residence in the 0-100 block of Princeton Lane reported at 6:31 p.m. March 23 numerous items missing from inside the residence. Total loss unknown at this time.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A resident called police at 9:14 p.m. March 24 to report damage to a rental car while it was parked in the 1800 block of Glenview Road.
BURGLARY FROM A VEHICLE
- A resident in the 3200 block of Bellwood Lane reported at 12:52 p.m. March 25 that someone had entered their vehicle while it was parked in the driveway and stole $60.
- A Hoffman Estates resident called police at 8:38 p.m. March 26 to report someone broke the window to their vehicle while it was parked at a business in the 200 block of Greenwood Road. A purse inside the vehicle was stolen. Estimated loss is $325.
ARSON
Citizens called police at 7:30 p.m. March 25 to report seeing fire coming out of a baseball dugout in the baseball fields behind Westbrook School, 1333 Greenwood Road. Glenview Fire responded and extinguished the fire. A bench and helmet rack were damaged.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
A resident in the 1800 block of Tower Road reported at 5:25 p.m. March 27 someone had spray-painted words and images on a wall in the parking lot.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE SUPPORTED PROPERTY
A Glenview Park District employee reported at 11:34 a.m. March 28 that someone broke a window at the Cole Park field house, 1031 Kenilworth Lane, sometime between during the overnight hours. Total reported loss is $501.
MINORS IN POSSESSION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Officers responded to a restaurant in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 12:10 a.m. March 30 for a report of a fight in progress. Most of the people involved left prior to police arrival. Byron Ortiz, 19, of the 4500 block of North Harding Avenue, Chicago, was issued a Village of Glenview Ordinance citation for Minor in Possession of Alcoholic Beverages after submitting to a portable breath test. An employee for the restaurant, Zia Ghani, 45, of 7000 Dempster Street, Morton Grove, was issued a Village of Glenview Ordinance citation for sale of alcohol to a minor under 21.
