GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Tafari R. Robinson, 24, of the 200 block of Dante Avenue, Glenwood, is accused of identity theft, and was arrested at 9:16 a.m. March 15 at the police department following an investigation into an incident that occurred on Feb. 23 in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was held for a bond hearing on March 16 in Skokie.

POSSESSION OF A FALSE ID CARD

An 18-year-old Glenview resident was issued a village ordinance violation citation at 1:45 p.m. March 24 for possession of a false ID card following a traffic stop at 2200 Patriot Blvd.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Fernando Mendoza, 37, of the 0-100 block of North Branch, Northfield, is accused of criminal trespass to a state supported property, and was arrested at 7:59 a.m. March 25 at Gallery Park, 2699 West Lake Ave. Mendoza was released on bond and assigned a court date of April 8.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Capital Drive reported at 11:23 a.m. March 17 a male and female stole eight bottles of alcohol at March 15. Total reported loss is $214.63.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

An employee of a hotel in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 3:33 p.m. March 17 to report someone who had checked out of room called to say he left personal property behind. The man threatened staff after the property could not be located.

TRESPASSING

Officers responded to the Metra Glenview North Station, 2301 Lehigh Ave., at 3:10 a.m. March 18 for an alarm. They located someone in the bathroom. Metra Police did not want to sign complaints and the person was released.

FRAUD

  • A manager of a business in the 2100 block of Willow Road called police at 10:34 a.m. March 19 to report an employee check deposited in July 2019 was re-deposited March 17. Reported loss is $165.79.
  • A resident in the 3800 block of Knollwood Lane reported at 1:41 p.m. March 19 a mortgage payment check they mailed to their mortgage company was intercepted and cashed by an unknown person. Reported loss is $2,444.90.

FORGERY

A resident in the 600 block of Carriage Hill Drive reported at 10:38 a.m. March 19 a co-worker stole a check and cashed it for $7855.62. Complaints will be signed.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An adult and a juvenile called police at 10:11 p.m. March 19 to report being surrounded by multiple juveniles on bicycles while driving through a park in Glenview.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

An employee reported at 12:54 p.m. March 20 damage to a work truck window as they drove in the 2100 block of East Lake Avenue. It was unknown how the damage occurred at the time of the report. Reported loss $500.

AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT

A resident called police at 1:49 p.m. March 20 to report a compromised cellular phone following an alert from a private credit alert program.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Police responded to the Glenview Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Avenue at 2:22 p.m. March 20 for an ambulance assist. Officers learned an 11-year-old Glenview resident was having a medical emergency. The patient was transported by the Glenview Fire Department to Glenbrook Hospital, 2100 Pfingsten Road, where they died at 3:50 p.m. The death is being investigated by the Glenview Police Department and Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. FOUND PROPERTY

A resident reported at 4:44 p.m. March 20 finding a vehicle key in the parking lot of Flick Park, 3600 Glenview Road.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY

A park patron at Community Park West, 1001 Zenith Drive, called police at 10 p.m. March 20 to report being the victim of a battery, following an altercation with between four and five unknown male juveniles. The victim reports no injury.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

  • Officers located property spray-painted with a derogatory term in black paint at 2:13 a.m. March 22 at Community Park West, 1001 Zenith Drive. No other signs of defacement in the area. Reported loss of $50.
  • A person reported at 12:47 p.m. March 22 that a slide at Indian Trail Park playground, 1519 Forest Drive, had been spray-painted. The reported loss is $200.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TO AUTO

A resident in the 300 block of Elm Street called police at 11:16 a.m. March 22 to report a car alarm was activated. The resident reviewed video and saw a male attempting to enter his vehicle. No complaints to be signed.
