Chicago Chefs Chase Chili Challenge For Charity

3 local celebrity chefs will compete in a first-ever charity chili cook-off at Abt Electronics.

From Abt Electronics: Abt Electronics (1200 N. Milwaukee) is kicking off Super Bowl weekend with a fun-filled, feel-good fundraising event. On Thursday, February 1st from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., some of Chicago’s most notable chefs will take on Abt’s first-ever Charity Chili Challenge and compete to cook up the ultimate batch of chili for the chance to win a $5,000 donation for their charity of choice from the Abt Family Foundation.

Three renowned Chicago chefs, including Kevin Hickey of The Duck Inn, Jake Peterson of The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group and Todd Stein of The Bristol, Formento’s and Nonna’s will throw down the gauntlet and put their chili recipe to the taste test for a great cause! Each chef will compete for the charity of his choice, including The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Ignite the Spirit and Common Threads respectively. The judging panel comprised of local food experts and influencers, Rochelle Trotter, Adam Sokolowski and Audarshia Townsend will crown the winning chef. In addition, guests are invited to vote on their favorite recipe for the “People’s Choice” award. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the winner of the People’s Choice Award’s charity.

The exciting competition will be hosted in the Inspiration Studio within the Abt store - a new showroom that offers an immersive luxury kitchen shopping experience unlike any that has come before. The chefs will compete in three of the twelve unique kitchen builds that make up the 10,000-foot space, each based on a suite of premium kitchen appliances from a respected brand like Thermador, Dacor and Viking.
