Coronavirus: 30 Dozen Eggs Donated to Glenview Food Pantry
The Northfield Township Food Pantry received 30 dozen eggs from Wagner Farm this week and is expected to receive weekly donations.
GLENVIEW, IL – The Historic Wagner Farm in Glenview donated 360 eggs to the Northfield Township Food Pantry, which is in high demand of provisions in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic, the Glenview Park District announced Wednesday. The farm closed to the public starting Friday but several employees are staying on to perform essential duties for animals such as feeding the chickens and cleaning their coups.
Wagner Farm Director Jonathan Kuester said in a news release egg donations will continue on a weekly basis while Gov. JB Pritzker's stay at home order remains in place.
“[Eggs] hold a shelf life of 45 days," Kuester said. "We could hold onto them and sell them when the farm is allowed to reopen but when we saw the need in the community, we decided to donate them to the food pantry."
