Heinen's Closed After Worker Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Heinen's in Glenview announced it was closed for deep cleaning after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
GLENVIEW, IL —Heinen's Grocery Store, 1020 Waukegan Road in Glenview, is closing its doors after one if its associates tested positive for the new coronavirus, the store announced via Facebook on Saturday. The associate is in self-quarantine and has not worked since Monday.
The store will remain closed while a deep cleaning is performed in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control by a professional crew using approved antiviral cleaners, the Facebook post read. Other stores will continue to follow stringent sanitation practices and will increase the frequency of its cleaning.

Dear customers,
The spread of COVID-19 is impacting us all, and we wanted you to know we had a Heinen's associate at our Glenview, Illinois, store test positive. We were informed today and then followed our process of closing the store. The associate is in self-quarantine and has not worked at the store since Monday, Mar. 23.
The store will remain closed while we do a deep clean performed by a professional crew using a food-approved antiviral cleaner. We will be cleaning the sales area and the backroom areas in accordance with CDC guidelines. We will post on our website and social media when the store is reopened.
In all of our stores, we will continue to follow our already stringent sanitation practices and have increased the frequency of our cleaning to continue to protect the safety of our customers and associates.

The Glenview Heinen's previously adjusted its hours to provide an 8 to 9 a.m. window for elderly and immunocompromised guests to shop, and asked others to visit the store after 9 a.m.

On Saturday, IDPH reported 465 new cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 13 new deaths. This brings the total number of cases in Illinois to 3,491 in 43 counties, including 47 deaths. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to 99 years. A total of 1,003 of these cases and 16 of the deaths were in suburban Cook County.
