Family Video Closing In Glenview

GLENVIEW, IL — The last video rental chain in the United States is about to get much smaller. Family Video, headquartered in Glenview, announced earlier this week it is closing more than 200 locations across the nation. Included in the closings is the Glenview store at 3124 Glenview Road.

Founded in 1978 in Springfield, the company moved its headquarters to Glenview in 2003.

"You may have heard that we're closing select locations...it's true," Family Video said in a social media post. "We've enjoyed serving so many communities over the years, but recent events have caused us to make some tough business decisions."

Though many stores, including a Joliet location, are closing, the company said more than 300 will remain open.
