Stolen Bulldog Safe As Arrests Made In Glenview Armed Robbery

Two people are charged with felonies after police say they arranged to buy the puppy, then brandished a weapon and fled with the pet.

GLENVIEW, IL — Two people accused of stealing a French bulldog puppy after brandishing a weapon during a sales transaction earlier this month have been arrested. Cody Lang, 19, of the 3800 block of N. Nora Avenue, Chicago, and Makayla Wheeler, 18, of the 8300 block of W. Winona Street, Norridge, are each being charged with one felony count of possession of stolen property following an investigation into the May 5 incident in Glenview.

The French bulldog puppy was found safe and returned to the owner, according to a news release.

The incident took place at around 5:33 p.m. May 5, when officers were called to the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. According to police, the victim said they had arranged to meet up with a man about the sale of the dog. The man then displayed a weapon, took the dog from the person, and left in a black vehicle, the victim told police. No one was injured in the incident.

The duo was arrested May 14 at Motel 6, 1535 Milwaukee Ave., and held for a bond hearing.

In an email to Patch, a Glenview Police Department spokesperson declined to provide more specifics on the weapon used in the robbery. Police confirmed Monday the investigation is ongoing.
