GBS Athletic Camps Postponed Due To Students Getting COVID-19

GLENVIEW, IL — Athletic camps at Glenbrook South High School will remain closed Tuesday after at least one student who participated in a camp last week tested positive for COVID-19. Camps were also closed on Monday as the Glenbrook School District 225 completes contact tracing and other information collection, according to school officials.

Athletic camps at the Glenbrook North campus begin Tuesday as originally scheduled.

Through the implementation of the district's contact tracing protocol, it was learned that other Glenbrook South students have also tested positive for COVID-19.

"We have communicated directly with specific students and employees who are believed to have come in direct contact (defined as coming within 6 feet of the individual for at least 15 minutes) with the individuals in the past seven days," the district said in a letter to parents.

Students and employees who have come in direct contact with the students who tested positive for COVID-19 have been asked to stay home for a two-week quarantine period as advised by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Glenbrook District 225 said it has followed the latest IDPH and CDC recommendations for cleaning and disinfecting facilities, including the use of ventilating fans, opening doors/windows to increase air circulation in the area, and extensive disinfection of the surfaces and workspaces where the employee and/or student worked.

Tuesday's notification about the future of camps will include information about full or partial refunds.
