The parade's grand marshal this year is Jim Castellano, a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach 75 years ago. After the war he served 37 years as a police officer in Chicago, retiring in 1984 and moving to the village five years ago.
The parade route remains unchanged from last year. It heads from Harlem Avenue at Glenview Road south on Harlem Avenue before turning west onto Central Road and ending at Johns Park. The parade will feature 75 community groups, entertainers and marching bands. (Map of parking restrictions)

As of Wednesday, the National Weather Service was predicting a high of 82 to 89 degrees Thursday for the Chicago area, but just like last year — when storms turned deadly on the 4th of July — scattered storms are a possibility. The NWS is predicting a 30 percent chance of storms both Wednesday and Thursday nights — so keep an eye out for weather-related fireworks cancellations.

5 p.m. — Twilight Concert and Fireworks
Parking lots open at 5 p.m. at Gallery Park, with food vendors on hand along Patriot Boulevard and a DJ performance. The Glenview Concert Band will perform at 7 p.m. A 26-minute fireworks show begins at dust.
The Glenview Park Foundation and the Glenview 4th of July Committee are holding a "Play for your Parks" 50/50 raffle in support of the park district, and thousands of donated glow sticks will be handed out at this year's festivities.

Park district staff asked attendees to leave their pets at home. No unofficial fireworks or drones are allowed in the village. Alcohol is forbidden in the park. Violators can be fined up to $500.
According to the village and the park district, the annual 4th of July holiday celebration costs more than $100,000. That money is covered entirely by donations from residents and owners of local businesses. Applications are available for those interested in joining the park district's Glenview 4th of July Committee, which holds monthly meetings to plan for the event.
