Glenview Couple Weds on 'The Today Show'

A couple from Glenview tied the knot in the nation’s largest cities and on air during one of the country’s most popular morning shows.

Kaitlin Roseman - a teacher at Lyon Elementary School in Glenview - and John West were wed on the March 24 episode of NBC’s “The Today Show.”

The wedding was held outdoors in the heart of New York City's Rockefeller Center, the backdrop of NBC's daily morning show aired across the United States. 

It was the culmination of a three-month period in the limelight for the Wests, whose engagement was also aired on television during ABC 7 Chicago’s New Year’s Eve coverage back in December.

The couple was first selected as one of three engaged pairs to be profiled on “The Today Show” to have a chance to receive the Big Apple wedding. Through online voting, they beat out couples from Los Angeles and New York (despite the local advantage) for the honor.

As part of the contest, the Wests needed to adhere to the audience’s wishes for details behind the wedding. In addition to giving them the primetime nod over the two other couples, voters also chose the bridesmaids dresses, wedding gown, bride’s hairstyle, groom’s tuxedo, rings, flowers and cake, according to the Daily North Shore.

The viewers also chose the couple’s Honeymoon location, opting for Greece rather than Thailand and Hawaii.

The Today Show contest was held in connection with the March release of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,” according to the Journal & Topics newspaper.

Roseman and West met five years ago on the online dating website “Plenty of Fish.” They have been together ever since their first date at a Sushi restaurant.
