Glenview Musician, 2-Time Winner of Music Award

Gary Zucker, a junior at Glenbrook South High School, is a two-time winner of the Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award, where professional musicians and educators review blind auditions on musicianship, creativity, improvisation, technique, sound quality and balance, Glenview Announcement reported.

Zucker and his bandmates from Last Resort recently received the award for best blues/pop/rock group in the annual national contest and Zucker also won the Downbeat award in the jazz category as a seventh-grader at Maple School in Northbrook, the newspaper reported.
