The following was submitted by the Glenview Park District:

After more than 40 years of serving in the parksand recreation field in several Illinois communities, Glenview Park District Executive Director Chuck Balling has announced his plan to retire in spring 2015. He informed members of the Park Board during its August 28 meeting. Balling’s employment agreement with the District ends on March 31, 2015, but he announced his retirement plans early to provide the Board with adequate time to fill the leadership position.

“As you can imagine, this was a very difficult decision for me and filled with mixed emotions because I love what I do and I work with fantastic people here. There is never a good time to leave a job one truly loves,” he told the Board. “After much consideration, I strongly believe it is the right time to pass the baton.”

Balling became Executive Director of the Glenview Park District nine years ago, bringing extensive experience in managing parks and recreation programs in Naperville, Homewood-Flossmoor, Elmhurst and Gurnee.
