Glenview Police Blotter: Residential Burglary, Identity Theft, Harassment

The following reports are from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Attempted Burglary

On April 6, a resident of the 1800 block of Camden Drive reported on April 6 between noon and 3 p.m., someone attempted to burglarize their home. Two of the homes doors had half-inch pry marks but entry was never gained. The estimated damage is $175.

On April 3, a resident of the 1800 block of Westleigh Drive reported observing pry marks on their front door. The resident stated the tool mark impressions on their door may be two to three weeks old.

Criminal Damage

On April 5, an employee of the Glenview Park District reported sometime overnight someone damaged two door windows on a field house with a BB-gun at Indian Trail Park, 1519 Forest Dr. The estimated damage is $180.

On April 5, a resident of the 1400 block of Midway Lane reported sometime overnight someone knocked their mailbox off of its wooden post. The estimated damage is $100.

Unknown offenders damaged mailboxes in the 1500 block of Kittyhawk Lane using a blunt instrument between 10 p.m. on April 4 and 6 a.m. on April 5.

On April 3, a Village of Glenview employee reported unknown juvenile offender(s) were observed throwing rocks and breaking a window at the warming station of the Glenview Train Station, 1116 Depot at 11 p.m. on April 2. The incident remains under investigation.

On April 3, a resident of the 1500 block of Constitution Drive reported unknown offender(s) egged their residence and caused approximately $1,000 worth of damage.

Criminal Defacment

On April 3, a refused complainant reported unknown persons placed a sticker on the drive-up mailbox at the Post Office, 1400 Patriot Boulevard. The sticker read, “Invisible Empire, Ku Klux Klan.”

Harassment by Electronic Communication

On April 5, a resident of the 2700 block of Linneman Street reported a former classmate sent harassing messages via Facebook. The two have had problems in the past and stheresident would like to sign a complaint.

Harassment by Telephone

On April 5 at 10:18 p.m., an employee of a business in the 1400 Milwaukee Avenue reported a female caller asked to be picked up at O’Hare Airport and taken to the business. The driver was unable to locate anyone at O’Hare and returned. The caller called a second time and the driver could still not locate the caller. When the employee called the number back, a girl answered and laughed.

On March 31, a resident of the 2200 block of Grandview Place reported receiving several phone calls from a male claiming to work for Microsoft. The male asks for personal information and requests the resident to allow remote access to their computer to fix viruses. The resident did not comply and would sign complaints if an offender is identified.

Identity Theft

On April 6, a resident of the 1400 block of Pfingsten Road reported after filing their tax return they received notification from the Internal Revenue Service that one already existed in their system using the resident’s identifying information.

On April 6, a resident of the 600 block of Glenridge Drive reported they received notification from the Internal Revenue Service that they received the resident’s tax return. The resident stated they have not filed yet therefore someone stole and used their identifying information.

On April 3, a resident in the 1500 block of Independence Avenue reported while attempting to open a new credit card they discovered unknown persons had open up a credit card and obtained a mortgage in their name.

On April 1, a resident of the 1600 block of Saratoga Lane reported after they submitted their tax return they were notified by the Internal Revenue Service that someone already filed using the resident’s personal identifying information.

On April 1, a resident of the 600 block of Chatham Road reported after they submitted their tax return they were notified by the Internal Revenue Service that someone already filed using their personal identifying information.

On April 1, a resident of the 1700 block of Highland Terrace reported they received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service requesting more information for their 2014 tax return. The resident has yet to file for the 2014 tax year and requested a report to document the theft of their identifying information.

Residential Burglary

On April 3, a resident of the 2300 block of Warwick Lane reported sometime between 6:50 p.m. and 8:52 p.m. on March 3, unknown offender(s) entered their residence and stole jewelry and money. The estimated loss is over $30,000.

Retail Theft

On April 1, an employee of a business in the 2300 block of Willow Road reported two females entered the store and stole three pairs of sunglasses worth $650. The employee described both offenders as Female, black, 25-40 years of age, heavy set, and short. The employee stated they may have gotten into an older model Honda Accord.

Theft

On March 31, an employee of a business in the 3900 block of Glenview Road reported on March 29 between 6:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., someone stole their purse from their coat jacket which was left unattended on the back of a chair. The purse, minus the cash, was recovered by the Morton Grove Police Department on March 30. Estimated loss is $25.

Theft ​(by deception)

A citizen reported a 20 to 35-year-old male white and a 60-year-old male white, 5’09” 200 lbs with gray hair, approached them in a parking lot in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road at 2 p.m. on April 1 offering to repair dents on their car for $454. The men spread white material on the bottom of the door and said the work was done, but they now owed $1,200 for additional material. The victim paid cash to the men who told him to wash off the material in few days and the dents would disappear.
