StoryWalk: The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall and Isabelle Arsenault

March Through May • Little Bear Garden at Gallery Park
Buzz from flower to flower with a sweet honeybee in this timely, clever, and breathtakingly gorgeous picture book. Fill out the survey using the QR code at the end of the StoryWalk to be entered into a prize drawing.

COVID-19 Memory Project

Calling all amateur historians! The Library wants to know how you survived the past year. We are interested in photos, written accounts, or original artwork that tells your COVID-19 story. All stories will be compiled and added to the Library’s local history collection. Pick up a project kit at the Youth Services Desk now-May 31 or visit our website to submit your story. Submissions due by June 1.

Virtual Volunteers (grades 6-12)

Earn service credit while giving back to your community! Choose from a variety of volunteer activities that can be completed at home, online, or outdoors. Learn more about volunteer opportunities on our website.

Learn a little more about our new Youth Program and Outreach Coordinator, Libby: "I love everything to do with nature and the outdoors and absolutely love astronomy! Hiking is one of my favorite recreational activities. I enjoy going on nature walks and exploring the different types of plant life and bugs found in our environment." Make sure you wave to Libby the next time you see her at the Library!

Early Literacy Tip

Save any big boxes that you receive deliveries in for imaginative play! Give your child markers and other art supplies to decorate their box and see what kind of creations they build. For more box fun and ideas, read Not a Box by Antoinette Portis.

School Age Literacy Tip

Reading out loud can improve confidence in young readers. Yes, they may experience a bit of anxiety, but that often disappears as they practice out loud. Children are less likely to read, even on their own, if they are not confident in their reading ability. Try reading to younger siblings, a pet, or a dog. Read to a dog during a Virtual K-9 Reading Buddies session!
