A tentative agreement has been reached with Comcast to provide future cable-related needs of the community through 2026.
A tentative agreement has been reached with Comcast to provide future cable-related needs of the community through 2026. This document replaces the agreement that expired in January 2015.
This proposal primarily regulates Comcast use of public right-of-way, allowing the utility to bury lines, use existing utility poles and any ground-mounted equpment to provide cable television service. It also authorizes the collection of franchise fees in exchange for the use of public right-of-way.

This
agreement does not address customer service as that is regulated by the state of Illinois.
Federal law expressly prohibits the Village from
regulating Comcast’s delivery of Internet services under the authority provided
in a franchise agreement. In fact, Internet service is considered a
completely separate category of service – an “Information Service” – from cable
or telecommunications services.
