Lake Avenue Bridge Lane Reductions Begin In Glenview
Outside lanes on Glenview's East Lake Avenue bridge will be shut indefinitely starting Saturday.

GLENVIEW, IL — Lane reductions on the East Lake Avenue bridge begin on Saturday, according to the Cook County Department of Transportation. The outside lanes on the bridge spanning the North Branch of the Chicago east of Wagner Road will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time, according to village and county officials.
The closure results from a recent inspection by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which called for a weight restriction and the closure of the bridge's exterior lanes. The four-lane bridge will remain open with a single lane in both directions to drivers of vehicles that weigh under 20 tons, according to the county.
Traffic on the major route through Glenview will be affected by the lane closures as it passes between Historic Wagner Farm and The Wilmette Golf Club, according to the village.

Glenview said it is looking for a timeline to find a temporary solution and bridge replacement, and "whether other structures owned by the county might be in poor condition."
Cook County transportation officials are "evaluating options" for how to repair the bridge, but there was no immediate timetable available for how long repairs might take or the expected duration of the closures.
