Man Seen Stealing Perfume; Post Office Parking Lot Fight: Blotter

A man was seen stealing bottles of perfume from a local store; two women used derogatory terms during a dispute: Glenview Police Blotter.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police.   • James W. Binney, 40, of the 2300 block of Linden Leaf Drive, Glenview, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested after being involved in a motor vehicle accident at 12:32 a.m. March 4 in the 1700 block of Bluestem Lane. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of April 13 in Skokie.
  • Valeriano Alcazar-Calleja, 30, of the 9000 block of North Cumberland Avenue, Niles, is accused of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.08 or more, driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding 26-34 mph over the limit, and was arrested at 12:08 a.m. March 8 in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of March 25 in Skokie.
  • Aimee L. Lesperance, 53, of the 7000 block of South Oglesby Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs or combination of drugs, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested after being involved in an accident at 6:47 a.m. March 8 in the 1000 block of Woodland Drive. She was released after posting $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of March 22 in Skokie.

RETAIL THEFT

Anthony Aiuppa, 57, of the 900 block of 23rd Avenue, Melrose Park, is accused of having a warrant for failure to appear in court for a retail theft out of DuPage County, and was arrested at 11:01 a.m. March 5 in Melrose Park. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and was assigned a court date of April 7 in Dupage County Court.

  • A Waukegan Road resident reported at 11:27 a.m. March 2 someone transferred money from their Bank of America account to a Venmo account. The resident then received an email stating if they wanted their money back they would need to pay a ransom in Bitcoin. Total reported loss is $200.
  • A resident of Wheeling called police at 4:37 p.m. March 8 to report money from his wallet was stolen from inside a locker at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road. Total reported loss is $400.

TRESPASSING

  • An employee of a hotel in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 12:23 p.m. March 2 to report a man was inside a room that had not been rented out to anyone. Officers found a man inside the room and highly intoxicated. He was transported to Glenbrook Hospital for treatment.
  • Police located a man who said he was homeless at 4:12 a.m. March 5 inside the downtown Metra Train Station, 1116 Depot St. He refused assistance from the officers and left the area.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • Two women reported at 9:55 a.m. March 3 being involved in a parking dispute at the Glenview Post Office, 1400 Patriot Blvd. Both claimed the other person used derogatory names toward the other person during the argument.
  • An employee of a business in the 2400 block of Sanders Road called police at 10:47 p.m. March 5 to report three people caused a disturbance by going behind the counter, yelling at the employee, and throwing merchandise on the ground. All three people left prior to police arrival in a gray sedan.

AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT

A resident reported at 9:58 a.m. March 4 losing their wallet somewhere between a business in Northbrook and a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road. The resident was notified of unusual purchases occurring on one of their credit cards. Total reported loss is $50.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

An employee of a business in the 800 block of Waukegan Road called police at 11:14 a.m. March 4 to report receiving inappropriate voicemails from a former customer.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A resident in the 2700 block of Aspen Court reported at 12:31 p.m. March 6 someone transferred money from their Chase Bank checking account to three fraudulent Chase Bank accounts that had been opened in the resident’s name.
  • A Balmoral Avenue resident called police at 9:42 p.m. March 7 to report receiving a letter notifying them they were eligible for unemployment benefits in the State of Kentucky. The resident has never lived or worked in Kentucky.

COMPUTER TAMPERING

A Buccaneer Drive called police at 4:32 p.m. March 6 to report someone hacked into their Apple iCloud account and gained access to personal information.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident of Chicago reported at 10:39 a.m. March 7 the rear window to their vehicle was broken sometime during the overnight hours while it was parked in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive called police at 12:23 p.m. March 7 to report seeing a man stealing numerous bottles of perfume on Feb. 23. Total reported loss is $1,522.
