Man Showing Off New Car Flips It, Charged with Reckless Driving

He wanted to show how well it handled corners at high speed and ended up upside down.

A Northbrook man showing off how well his new car cornered at high speeds ended up flipping it instead and being charged with reckless driving, police said.

Ryan C. Pedersen wanted to show a passenger how well his 2014 Jeep Cherokee handled corners so they hopped in the vehicle around 7 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Pony Lane, police said.

Instead of marveling at the Jeep’s cornering, he rolled the Jeep, which ended up on its roof. You can see how the aftermath in the photo taken by Leslie Leeb Machado, who lives right by the accident.

Pederson, 40, of the 4100 block of Bristol Court, was charged with reckless driving, and was released on $2,000 bond with a Sept. 24 court date.
