New Weekly Coronavirus Cases Level Off Slightly In Glenview

GLENVIEW, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Wednesday 3,790 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 28 additional deaths.

In Glenview, cases have been rising for the last month after a drastic drop in cases to start 2021. As of Thursday, there have been 4,122 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Glenview, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. These numbers indicate an +33.3 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 103 people have died due to COVID-19 in Glenview since April 7, 2020. The latest death happened on March 31. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on April 14 and Dec. 11.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 103 deaths are: 80+ (68), 70-79 (21) 60-69 (7), 50-59 (6) and 40-49 (1).

Where To Get The Coronavirus Vaccine In Illinois

As of Thursday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 227,272 confirmed cases and 4,143 deaths since the pandemic began. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 8,423,845. This number includes doses allocated for the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities, which effectively has ended according to the IDPH. A total of 6,552,982 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of midnight Wednesday. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 107,302 doses. On Tuesday, 139,724 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The IDPH is reporting 25,603 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,549 deaths. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three different occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
