Glenview Obituary: Lowella Rivero, 90
The anti-cruelty advocate and longtime Northwestern University employee enjoyed showing others her love for the castanets.
Glenview resident, Lowella Rivero, fondly known to most as Lola, passed away on Monday, May 6th at the age of 90. Lola began her life in Chicago with her two older brothers, Rolland and Ray and came from a highly educated and talented, musical family. Her mother, Zerline, was a voice and piano teacher and Arthur Fiedler, well known conductor from the Boston Pops, was her second cousin.
Lola absolutely loved the art of dance and performing. Her true passion was Flamenco and enjoyed showing others her love for the castanets. Lola also had a long career as a secretary in the Pathology Department at Northwestern University. She retired with over 45 years of service.
The care and welfare of all animals, especially cats, was always on her mind as she was a devout vegetarian and anti-cruelty advocate. Lola is lovingly remembered by her sons, Lou (Audrey) and Mike (Kim), grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, Alex and Cody, nephews, Steven (Ruth), Dwayne (Charmaine), Dale (Andrea) Metzger, and cat, Champ.
