Principal At GBS Resigns: Officials

The Township High School District 225 Board of Education unanimously approved a negotiated resignation Tuesday at a special meeting.

GLENVIEW, IL — While not providing a specific reason for why she's leaving, officials at Township High School District 225 confirmed Wednesday that Glenbrook South High School Principal Dr. Lauren Fagel has resigned, effective immediately. She has served the school in the position since July 2015.

Christina Salonikas, communications specialist for District 225, provided Patch with an email sent out Tuesday to staff, parents and students. She said, "It will remain the statement for the district at this time."

Superintendent Dr. Charles Johns said in the letter, the Board of Education unanimously approved a negotiated resignation with Fagel at a special meeting Tuesday. "The District wishes Dr. Fagel the best in her future endeavors," Johns said.

Prior to joining 225, Fagel served as the assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction, technology and assessment at Lake Forest School Districts 67 and 115.

Dr. Rosanne Williamson, assistant superintendent for educational services for District 225, will provide interim leadership at GBS as the District works with an educational search firm starting this fall to identify a highly qualified principal candidate for the permanent position, according to the letter.

"We will work with her on a successful transition. Dr. Williamson has been in her current role at the District since 2009 and previously was associate principal for curriculum and instruction at Glenbrook North High School from 2003-2009," Johns said.

Before joining 225, Williamson served as an assistant principal and biology/general science department chair and teacher at Rich Central High School and Thornton Fractional South HIgh School. Williamson received her doctorate in education (educational leadership and policy studies) and master of science degrees from Indiana University. She is a graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor of science in biology and chemistry, according to the letter.
