Rental Car Stolen from Hotel Parking Lot

A shopper was also followed by a suspicious man through two different stores and while driving away.

Harassment by Electronic Communication

A resident reported receiving harassing text messages and photos during the last few weeks from an acquaintance. The resident would like to pursue criminal complaints.

Criminal Damage to Property

A resident of the 1700 block of Brush Hill Ln. reported between 9:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Oct. 14 someone caused $50 worth of damage to the wood framing around their overhead garage door.

Unlawful Use of Credit Card

A resident was notified someone attempted to use one of their store credit cards in Michigan. The store denied the charges but after contacting the credit bureaus the resident learned someone charged $1,500 to a different credit card at a store in Michigan.

Deceptive Practice

A resident reported being hired online by a man from Canada. The man sent them a check for $2,963.26 as an upfront payment and requested they send $2,000 of the money back as gift cards. The resident sent $1,000 worth of gift cards to him but then became suspicious and did not sending the additional $1,000.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

A man reported someone stole a vehicle he rented from the hotel parking lot he was staying at in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Ave between 8 and 9:40 a.m. Oct. 15. The estimated loss is $45,000.

Identity Theft

A resident of the 1600 block of Magnolia St. reported someone stole and cashed an $89 check issued to them. They believe the person stole the check from their mailbox. The person cashed the check through an online bank account.

Suspicious Incident

A complainant stated a man followed them in a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Rd. Oct. 16. They then went to a business in the 2100 block of Willow Rd. and the same man followed them throughout the store. They left the store and the man followed them in his vehicle. They made several turns and finally eluded him after completing a U-turn. They did not wish to sign a compliant.

Attempt Burglary

An employee of a business in the 2900 block of West Lake Ave. reported sometime between 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and 10:15 a.m. Oct. 18, someone attempted to force entry to a building on the property.

Unwanted Subject

An employee of a business in the 4600 block of West Lake Ave. wanted police to issue a trespass warning Oct. 19 for a customer who started to act irate. The customer said they were venting but their anger was not specifically directed at the employee. The customer left without incident and was warned not to return.

Burglary

Officers responded to a construction site in the 2500 block of Waterview Dr. at 4:30 a.m. Oct. 20 for a possible burglary in progress reported by an alarm company. Officers could not locate anyone and it is unknown if anything was stolen.

Identity Theft

A resident reported someone opened an account with a service provider using their identifiers. They found out about the account after receiving a collection notice for $1,035.02.

Battery

A complainant reported being battered Oct. 20 in the 1500 block of Evergreen Ter. by a homeowner during a dispute about payment for a job completed at the home. No complaints were signed.

A complainant reported being battered by a co-worker while at their place of employment in the 4300 block of Di Paolo Center Oct. 20. They did not want to sign a complaint.
