Unity Flag Stolen From Church; Inflatable Unicorn Cut: Blotter

A local church reported a flag was stolen and a flagpole was damaged; an inflatable unicorn was deflated, cut: Glenview Police Blotter.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police.   • James Switalski, 74, of the 1200 block of N Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 3:48 p.m. June 14 following a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Glenview Road. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of July 1 in Skokie.
  • Kirill Kapelson, 27, of the 3000 block of West Lake Avenue, Glenview, is accused of driving under the influence of drugs, and was arrested at 3:31 p.m. June 16 in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of July 1 in Skokie.
  • Chol Park, 58, of the 3200 block of Parkway Drive, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, operating a vehicle while using an electronic device, and was arrested at 7:42 p.m. June 17. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 4 in Skokie.
  • Angel Medina, 19, of the 600 block of Piper Lane, Prospect Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol .08 or more, leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 6:21 p.m. June 18 after an investigation into a hit-and-run accident at East Lake Avenue and Shermer Road. He was released on a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 4 in Skokie.

CONTEMPT OF COURT

Stacy Brayboy, 44, of the 10300 block of Michael Todd Terrace, Glenview, is accused of having an outstanding warrant out of Cook County for contempt of court, and was arrested at 10:49 p.m. June 15 in Glenview. He was taken to the Skokie Courthouse for a bond hearing.

BATTERY

Antonina Anthony, 61, of the 3900 block of Triumvera Drive, Glenview, is accused of battery for an incident that happened on June 20 in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road, and was arrested at 6:32 a.m. June 21. She was released on bond pending a court date of Aug. 4 in Skokie.

A person representing a church in the 1000 block of Elm Street, Glenview, reported at 7:30 a.m. June 15 damage to a flagpole between June 13 and 14. The reported loss is $12.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard called police at 8:26 p.m. June 15 to report a customer concealed a bottle of liquor in a bag with the intent to steal it. The business wished trespass notice given to the customer.

MINOR IN POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL

  • An 18-year-old Glenview resident was cited at 10:39 p.m. June 15 under a village ordinance for minor in possession of alcohol at Independence Avenue and Monterey Drive.
  • A 19-year-old and 18-year-old were cited under village ordinance at 1:57 a.m. June 19 for minor in possession of alcohol after officers made contact with them in the 1800 block of Wagner Road.
  • An 18-year-old drive was cited under village ordinance at 11:38 p.m. June 19 for minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage after a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Lake Avenue. Two 19-year-old passengers were also cited under village ordinance for minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident in the 1400 block of Midway Lane reported at 7:40 a.m. June 16 someone cut and deflated an inflatable unicorn on the front lawn of their home. Reported loss is $104.

THEFT

  • A person representing a church in the 1000 block of Elm Street called police at 8:11 a.m. June 16 to report someone stole a Unity flag and damaged the flagpole it was secured to. The flag sat on the southeast corner of the property. Reported loss is $65.
  • A Northbrook resident reported at 8:31 p.m. June 16 someone cut the combination lock off a locker they used at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road and stole a cell phone from inside. Reported loss is $1,220.
  • A resident in the 1000 block of Huckleberry Lane called police at 11:09 a.m. June 18 to report that between June 15 and 16, someone stole a sign from the front lawn. Estimated loss is $10.
  • A resident in the 2900 block of Independence Avenue reported at 4:07 p.m. June 18 someone stole a sign from the front lawn three days earlier. Estimated loss is $10.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A Chicago resident reported at 5:05 p.m. June 16 their vehicle was stolen from the parking lot at the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road. Reported loss is $15,000.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • The manager of a business in the 3300 block of Glenview Road called police at 10:18 a.m. June 18 to report a customer left multiple threatening messages for another employee. No complaints to be signed.
  • A resident in the 3300 block of Springdale Avenue reported at 12:23 a.m. June 20 an unknown male was in her backyard. The man was located and identified by police. The man stated he was intoxicated and running home. Officers transported the male to his residence. No complaints to be signed.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE

Police located an unoccupied moving van at 3:23 p.m. June 18 parked in a parking lot in the 4000 block of West Lake Avenue. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Chicago. The Chicago Police Department was advised of the recovery and contacted the moving company to pick up the vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road reported at 9:59 a.m. June 19 someone slashed the tire on their vehicle. No complaints to be signed. Estimated loss is $50.

UNWANTED PERSON

  • Officers responded to a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 6:24 p.m. June 20 due to a customer causing a disturbance. The person was given a trespass warning and left the business with no further incident.
  • An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 2:09 p.m. June 21 a customer came into the business and became angry over receiving loyalty points. The customer was asked to leave the business and issued a trespass warning.

COMPUTER CRIME

A Henley Street resident reported at 7:45 a.m. June 21 someone attempted access to his online accounts. No financial loss at this time. Complaints will be signed.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A Saranac Lake resident called police at 4:40 p.m. June 21 to report she received phone calls and harassing messages on social media. The male caller made threats and called her derogatory terms.

REVOKED/SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

A 27-year-old was cited for suspended driver's license, unlawful possession of cannabis, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to properly secure a child under the age of 8, at 6:59 p.m. June 21, after a traffic stop in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Driver was released on an I-bond.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident in the 3800 block of Knight Street, Glenview, reported a female pulled up to her residence at 6:57 p.m. June 21. The female said she used to live there and had property inside of his residence. The resident has seen the female subject driving different vehicles in the area the past few weeks. Officers identified and spoke to the female about the incident.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

A 27-year-old was cited for no valid driver's license, speeding (21-25 mph over the speed limit) at 2:59 a.m. June 22 after a traffic stop at Willow Road and Shermer Road. The driver was released on an I-bond.
