Van Stolen from Commercial Way Business

Gift cards worth more than $1,000 were also tampered with and thus rendered useless.

The following information is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

No Valid Driver’s License

Efrain Rivera, 23, of the 10300 block of Michael Todd Terr. in Glenview, was arrested at Glenview and Elmdale roads at 4 p.m Sept. 20 and charged with No Valid Driver’s License. He was released on $1,500 bond with an Oct. 24 court date.

Forgery

A resident reported receiving a letter from a bank saying there were fraudulent activities with their home equity line of credit. A second letter included a copy a check written from the resident’s account that the bank did not honor. The resident suffered no loss.

Suspicious Incident

A Glenview church reported receiving a phone call from a person who identified himself as a representative of a company that was trying to sell advertisement to the church. The caller lied about working with area schools. It was discovered there have been numerous complaints about the company online. The church wanted the incident documented.

Suspicious Incident

An employee of a financial institution in the 1300 block of Patriot Blvd. reported a female who identified herself with a Wisconsin Driver’s License attempted to access an account Sept. 16. When the employee became suspicious, a supervisor was informed and the police called. The female fled before police arrival. The descriptors on the license did not match that of the suspect.

Burglary Attempt

A resident in the1700 block of East Ridgewood Ln. reported someone punched a hole in the door of their vehicle causing $1,000 in damages while it was parked on the driveway sometime between 4 and 8 p.m. Sept. 13. Entry was not gained.

Criminal Damage

Someone damaged the front and rear windows of a company car causing $750 in damages while it was parked at a business in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Ave. overnight Sept. 16.

Retail Theft

An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Rd. reported that at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 15 two males entered the store and stole a cell phone and headphones. Both left in an unknown make/model black minivan. The estimated loss is $190.

Public Indecency

A resident reported seeing a male wearing a yellow t-shirt possibly urinating in the bushes by the baseball diamond at Catherine Crowley Park at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 18. A check of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful.

Unwanted Subject

A manager of a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Blvd. reported a customer has been coming in and bothering an employee. The manager wanted the subject advised not to return. Contact with subject was made and they were advised not to return to the store.

Theft

Someone took a lawnmower deck from the driveway of a home in the 1600 block of Portage Run. The deck is a mowing blade platform for a riding mower valued at $1,000.

Harassment by Telephone

A resident reported receiving a telephone message at Sept. 19 from a male with an East Indian accent who said he was from the IRS and needed to speak with them about a legal matter. When the officer called the number a male answered and immediately hung up. The resident was advised it was a telephone scam. No loss occurred.

Burglary

Someone smashed the glass front door of a business in the 400 block of Glenview Road overnight Sept. 19 and stole $400 from the cash register.

Identity Theft

A shopper reported buying two debit gift cards from a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Rd. Sept. 13 for $506.61 and $505.95. It appears prior to being purchased, an offender opened the gift cards, copied the access numbers and re-packaged the cards. Once the cards were bought, the offender used the access numbers and used the cards prior to the victim.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

Someone stole a 1999 gray Chevrolet Express van worth $10,000 from the rear lot of a business in the 4200 block of Commercial Way between Sept 19 and 22. The vehicle was locked at the time it was stolen.

Burglary (Motor Vehicle)

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 0-100 block of Providence Dr. Aug. 20 and stole a cellphone worth $400.
