Village to Residents: "Don't Pile Leaves in the Street"

Leaves should be composted or bagged as yard waste for pick up by Groot Industries.

The village of Glenview is reminding residents that there is no leaf collection program--so leaves should not be piled in the street.

Residents with piles of leaves in front of their homes may be cited and fined up to $750 per day.

Here's the information posted by Village Hall:

"The Village of Glenview reminds residents that leaves should not be raked into the street. Instead, compost them or bag them as yard waste for pickup by Groot Industries, the Village's contracted landscape waste hauler.

Leaf piles can cause traffic problems or obstruct the drainage if piled in the street. Residences where leaves are found to be deposited on the public street could be ticketed for a violation and fined between $100 to $750 per day.

Information regarding bagging leaves and collection by Groot can be found here."
