1 Dead In Lake Co. Crash
A 74-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the one-vehicle crash Friday morning, authorities said.
LAKE COUNTY, IL —A Kentucky man is dead following a one-vehicle crash that happened southwest of Grayslake Friday morning, authorities said. The Lake County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of the collision in the area of Route 60 and Blackhawk Trail at about 9:15 a.m. on Friday.
Deputies first at the scene found a 2014 Dodge Journey about 100 feet off the road north of Route 60, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. A preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was heading west on Route 60 when it left the road, traveled through a cornfield and struck a tree.
The driver, a 74-year-old man from Adairville, Kentucky, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to authorities.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday afternoon. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
