Officers arrived and met with a woman in front of the home. The woman told officers that Calhoun broke into the home. The victim said she was asleep in bed when Calhoun, who does not live with her and is not allowed in her home, began beating her, Burch said.

Calhoun allegedly dragged the woman from her bed and started yelling that he was going to kill her.
The woman was able to call 911 but Calhoun noticed and smashed her phone, Burch said, adding that the victim’s children were sleeping in a nearby room during the attack.
Calhoun tried pushing the woman into a room further away from the children so they would not hear it.
The victim, who sustained injuries to her head and body, was able to kick Calhoun and run outside.
Calhoun fled the scene before officers arrived, Burch said. An arrest warrant was issued shortly after the incident.
Calhoun was taken into custody in late May and remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $500,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday for an arraignment hearing, court records show.
