Virtual Memorial Day Ceremonies Planned Across Lake County

Libertyville and other towns will hold virtual ceremonies on Memorial Day, as in-person ceremonies are being canceled across Lake County.

LAKE COUNTY, IL —Due to Gov. J.B. Pritzker's extended stay-at-home order due to the coronavirus pandemic, several Memorial Day parades and festivities across Lake County have been cancelled. The cancellations include Grayslake's Memorial Day parade and service scheduled for Monday, May 25.

The Village of Libertyville will be holding a virtual Memorial Day Ceremony instead of their in-person ceremony. The virtual ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25. Check back to the Village website for the link to the virtual ceremony.

The annual Round Lake Area Memorial Day Parade has also been cancelled. The cancellation of the parade planned for Monday, May 25 was announced by the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce on its website. (Visit the chamber's website for updates).

Over in Lake Forest, American Legion McKinlock Post 264 will be decorating Lake Forest with American flags despite the annual ceremony being cancelled. The City asks that residents please display your American flag proudly at your home to help celebrate Memorial Day.

Village officials in Mundelein decided during an April 27 board meeting to cancel the village's Memorial Day parade scheduled for May 25. However, the Village said a recording of a small Memorial Day ceremony will be posted online for community member to watch Monday.
