Former Co-Owner of Popular Lake County Apple Orchard Has Died
A visitation and memorial service for Marion E. Quig will be held Thursday in Mundelein.

LAKE COUNTY, IL - A visitation and memorial service for the former co-owner of a popular Lake County apple orchard has been set for this week.
Marion E. Quig died last month in Reno, Nev. at the age of 74. A visitation for Quig is scheduled for 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at Kristan Funeral Home, 219 West Maple Ave. in Mundelein, with a service to follow at 7 p.m.
Marion E. Quig and her late husband, Robert Quig, ran Quig’s Orchard on Route 83 north of Midlothian Road in Mundelein for 58 years until the family sold the land to residential developers in 2005, according to the Daily Herald. Robert Quig first started the business as a roadside stand in 1947 and Quig’s later expanded to include a restaurant, bakery, country store and offered seasonal attraction to its visitors, according to the article.

Marion Quig, who was born in Libertyville, enjoyed crocheting, doing word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren, according to her obituary. She had three children and four grandchildren.
