The Lake County Sheriff's Office was again called to try and round up the same herd of cattle that got loose in May near Lake Villa.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Two mischievous Scottish Highland cows escaped again on Wednesday — just two months after the clever con-artists got away from their home and were found wandering a neighborhood in Lake Villa. This time, the furry cows must have been needing to cool down, because they were found by Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies in a pond.

"These fellas just wanted to 'cowool' off, there's a heatwave coming after all," according to a post on the Lake County Sheriff's Office Twitter page. Local authorities reported the cows missing at about 9 a.m. after getting a call, once again, from the cow's owner. At that time, the cows were last seen in the area of Route 59 and Dering Lane in unincorporated Lake Villa.

They were located a short time later, according to the sheriff's office Twitter page.

By 10 a.m., the cows were back home.

"Chance the Snapper has nothing on these udderly amazing Highland cattle," the Lake County Sheriff's Office said on Twitter.

The same cattle were rounded up by the sheriff's office May 13. Deputies had some fun over social media during that incident as well.

"The [cows] told us it was some 'bull' that we wouldn't let them run down Rte 59!! We told them they were moooooving too slow," according to a sheriff's office Facebook post.
