Grayslake Arts Alliance Welcomes 2 Spring Shows
Art lovers in the Grayslake area will have two opportunities to purchase original work this month

Art lovers in the Grayslake area will have two opportunities to purchase original work this month at a pair of events produced by the Grayslake Arts Alliance.
For the first time in its four-year history, the local non-for-profit is planning a pop-up show from
6 to 8 p.m. March 16 at BBQ’d Productions, 34121 N. US Route 45, in Grayslake, followed three
days later by a virtual tour version of its annual Spring Fine Arts Show & Sale, March 19-21.
With a theme of “Art to Go,” the popup event will feature small works--matted or framed
artwork no larger than 5” x 7.”
“We thought of the theme to support our local restaurants in their efforts to boost take out and
to go items during the pandemic,” said Emilie Sizemore, a member of the GAA's events
committee. “We also hoped to drive interest, attraction, and support for GAA and our upcoming
show later that week.”
This event will have a different feel than other GAA shows, she said.

“The event is intended to be somewhat spontaneous in its design, location, and theme,” she said.
“The pop up has been seen in various modes of art from the flash mob to art in the park.”
The virtual show will feature the work of numerous GAA member artists and will be titled “From
Shadows to Sunlight,” a theme meant to reflect optimism in the battle against COVID-19, said
Jennifer Evans, events committee chairman.
“With everyone still feeling this hopeful but mild anxiety as we still operate under the pandemic
guidelines, we polled the GAA members on the title of the show. Many wonderful suggestions
came through and ultimately, the GAA Board of Trustees broke a 2-way tie.”
Like a similar event earlier this year, the GAA is partnering on the spring show with
3DRoomScapes and the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum.

Visitors will access the show through the GAA website, www.grayslakeartsalliance.org . With
a single click of their computer mouse, visitors will be transported to a virtual representation of
the Heritage Center community room; there one can literally move from piece to piece.
To make a purchase, one can simply click a tag that will appear on each piece; buyers will be
moved to a checkout page on the GAA website.
The show will open at 8 a.m. March 19 and close at 11:59 p.m. on March 21.
The spring show drew more than 300 visitors in three days, said GAA President Paul Price.
A portion of sales from both events will help the GAA, a registered 501(c)(3) charity, bring the
arts to Grayslake through education, participation, and development.
