Grayslake Mayor Encourages Support Of Businesses, Financial Help
Mayor Taylor touched on two financial assistance programs initiated by the Village during this coronavirus outbreak in the May newsletter.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — Grayslake Mayor Rhett Taylor is asking residents to support Village businesses as much as they can during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In the Village's May 2020 Grayslake Record, Taylor reminds residents of the importance of supporting Grayslake spots, and the financial assistance programs initiated for several local businesses.
"As much as you can please patronize these businesses," Taylor said, in the newsletter.
The mayor also touched on the two financial assistance programs initiated by the Village during this coronavirus outbreak for dine-in restaurants and local independent retailers.

"Eligible businesses can receive dollars equal to a percentage of sales taxes each business paid to the Village in 2019," Taylor stated, in the newsletter, and added that these "dollars are meant to help these businesses meet staff, rent or other regular business expenses while they are closed during the unprecedented shutdown (SIC) period."

Once the current shutdown ends, Taylor said each business has agreed to restore staffing back to what it was before the shutdown, and stay open for one year.
"These assistance programs avoid the lengthy processes and paperwork of other programs being implemented at the federal and state levels, and as of April 21st, eighteen businesses have accessed this assistance," Taylor said.
In an effort to support readers and businesses in the community, Patch put a call out to local businesses last month, asking them to update their status, give details on how you can continue to patronize them, and to let the community know how they can best help during these challenging times. You can find the local guide here.
Several local businesses responded to the call out and are asking community members to follow them on Facebook, and simply share the details written in the local guide.
