Grayslake Park District Plans Drive-Thru Halloween Event
Pumpkin Fest has been cancelled and the park district will instead hold a drive-thru event at Alleghany Park.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — The Grayslake Park District will be hosting two Halloween events that are meant to encourage social distancing while still allowing local residents to enjoy the holiday. A Halloween Characters Drive-Thru event will be held at Alleghany Park, 31999 Alleghany Road, on Oct. 15, and a Halloween Fun with Mickey and Minnie class will take place on Oct. 24, according to the park district's website.
The drive-thru event is meant to replace Pumpkin Fest, which was cancelled due to requirements regarding social distancing, according to the park district.
The Halloween Character Drive-Thru will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at on Oct. 15 Alleghany Park. Those stopping out are encouraged to decorate their car with spider webs, pumpkins, skeletons and other spooky decor, according to the park district website.

Those driving through the park will see Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, PJ Masks and other superheroes, according to the park district, and each registered child will receive a goody bag.
Those wishing to visit the drive-thru should register by Oct. 10. The cost is $5 for residents and $8 for non-residents and adult attendance is free with a paid child.

After you register, you’ll receive an email with a link to where you can reserve your arrival time to ensure a steady flow of traffic through the park and that the everyone can enjoy the event.
The park district will also be hosting a Halloween Fun with Mickey and Minnie event from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 24 at the recreation center, 240 Commerce Drive. Mickey and Minnie will be dressed in their holiday costumes and those attending can wear costumes.
There will only be eight children allowed and the class will include a story, crafts, singing and dancing. Those wishing to attend must register by Oct. 17.
