Great America To Reopen For Holiday Lights In The Park
The Gurnee amusement park will be lit up again this holiday season but there will be no rides this year due to COVID-19.

GURNEE, IL — Six Flags Great America will reopen the day after Thanksgiving for its third season of Holiday in the Park. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Gurnee amusement park's rides will not be up and running this year but there will be 2.5 million dazzling lights for visitors to enjoy and other entertainment in the "open-air" atmosphere, according to a news release from Six Flags.
Holiday in the Park's walk-through light extravaganza will open on Nov. 27 and will continue on select days through Dec. 27. There will be holiday light displays throughout the property; socially-distanced, holiday-themed photo ops; and delicious holiday treats available.
Visitors interested in stopping out can make a reservation between 4 and 9 p.m. all weekends from Nov. 27 through Christmas weekend. The park will be open during week days as well the week of Christmas.

To keep in line with state guidelines set up to slow the spread of COVID-19, the park will be operating at reduced capacity levels and without rides.
"We’re also also implementing extensive safety measures and hygiene protocols, including several new advanced technology systems to protect guests and employees," according to a statement released Thursday by Six Flags.
