Hainesville Teen Hit, Killed By Metra Train

The 17-year-old boy died after being hit by the train early Tuesday, authorities said.

HAINESVILLE, IL — A 17-year-old Hainsville boy was killed after he was hit by a Metra train in Round Lake Park early Tuesday. The incident happened shortly after midnight in the area of the railroad tracks near the 300 block of West Main Street.

The boy has been identified as Dustin Keefe, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Preliminary autopsy results show he died from severe blunt trauma as a result of the incident, according to the coroner's office.

Last week, a 48-year-old man from Ingleside was struck and killed by a freight train north of the Round Lake Metra Station. The incident happened about 1:48 a.m. on April 7. around 1:43 a.m. Wednesday to the area near the Round Lake Metra Station, 334 Cedar Lake Road.

The coroner's office identified the victim as Kirk Stateler, 48, of Ingleside.
