Improvements Underway At Grayslake Library
Upgrades include renovation work to the library's HVAC system, roof replacement and the installation of 282 solar photovoltaic panels.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — Repairs and upgrades are underway at the Grayslake Public Library. The improvements include renovation work to the library's HVAC system, roof replacement and the installation of 282 solar photovoltaic panels.
The library, at 100 Library Lane, will be closed to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday as repairs continue on the HVAC system. The building is expected to reopen at 1 p.m., and curbside pickup will be available from 1 to 7 p.m.
Library officials let patrons know last week that while the building will remain open during the HVAC project, which is slated to continue through Friday, it will be noisier than normal inside the building and also "maybe a little warm."

As part of the renovation project, new photovoltaic panels will be added to the roof. The solar panels will provide at least 20 percent of the electricity the library needs to operate just by "collecting light energy from the sun."
"Using solar energy reduces pollution and reduces greenhouse gas emissions," according to the library's website.
