Lake County Cop Seriously Injured In Beach Park Crash

BEACH PARK, IL — A Lake County police officer was one of two people seriously injured in a Saturday night crash at the Green Bay Road/Wadsworth Road intersection in Beach Park.

The sheriff's deputy was headed westbound on Wadsworth at 9:42 p.m., responding to a call of someone armed with a knife trying to enter a home in the 13400 block of Victoria Lane, when the car collided with a Nissan Rouge that was going southbound on Green Bay. The crash, now under investigation by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, caused the Nissan to strike a Honda Civic headed eastbound on Wadsworth, Lake County police said.

Both the police officer and the driver of the Nissan were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening. The driver and the passenger in the Honda did not appear to have any injuries, police said.
