“Grayslake has lost a loyal community supporter,” according to a post on the Grayslake Historical Society Facebook page. “(Strang) had deep roots in Grayslake as his grandfather started Strang Funeral in 1898. We will miss him standing at the door and saying, ’Have you signed the book?’”

Strang was an avid collector of antique cars and had a love for animals, especially Boxers.

Friends of the family may visit on Friday from 1 to 8 p.m. with Masonic services at 8 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Strang Funeral Chapel. Procession will be led by a horse-drawn hearse to Avon Centre Cemetery in Grayslake.
