Part Of Old Grand Avenue Closing For Gurnee Bridge Repairs

According to the Village of Gurnee, traffic on Old Grand Avenue will be rerouted via detour signs during the bridge repairs.

GURNEE, IL — Part of Old Grand Avenue will be closed for two weeks starting Monday, Jan. 20 due to scheduled repairs on the Canadian Pacific Railroad bridge's concrete ballast after it was hit by a truck that failed to clear it while passing last month. According to the Village of Gurnee, the railroad expects the work to be finished by Feb. 5, but up until then will require closure of Old Grand Avenue between O’Plaine Road and North First Street, to make sure the public stays safe, and Canadian Pacific crews have a safe work environment. According to the Village, traffic on Old Grand Avenue will be rerouted via detour signs advising motorists to take IL-132/Grand Avenue.

Access to Viking Middle School, Viking Park and local businesses will remain open throughout the project via Old Grand Avenue and O’Plaine Road.
