Reopening of Fairfield Road Delayed
Due to complications at the site, the closure has been extended and the road is now expected to open on Monday, Nov. 11.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Division of Transportation is replacing a culvert on Fairfield Road between Route 120 and Route 134 in Round Lake. Due to complications at the site, the closure has been extended and the road is now expected to open on Monday, Nov. 11 — if the weather permits.
The main disruption to the original schedule was an unforeseen utility conflict.
“We know that the motorists who depend on this road have been very patient, and we are doing everything we can to get the road back open,” according to a news release from Lake County Division of Transportation. “While we take great pride in delivering road improvements on schedule, occasionally we have projects that don’t go according to plan.
LCDOT, the contractor and the utility company are working to complete the project.”

The utility work is now almost complete, and the road is scheduled to be paved at the end of this week prior to it opening to motorists on Nov. 11.
Meanwhile, a detour route runs Route 120 to Wilson Road to Route 134. Local traffic will have access from Route 134 south to Nippersink Road and local residences and from Route 120 north to local residences. The road is closed to all through traffic at Squaw Creek.
