"Six Flags Great Mets" Could Be New Name of Chicagoland Amusement Park

A wager between Six Flags Great America and the Six Flags in New Jersey have set the terms pretty high.

Six Flags Great America will be known as “Six Flags Great Mets” during the rest of Fright Fest this year unless the Chicago Cubs can pull off a comeback and win four of the next five games against the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series.

The Chicago-area Six Flags park in Gurnee and the one that serves the New York City-area in Jackson Township, New Jersey have set the terms of a creative bet for the NLCS, according to NBC-5-Chicago.

If the Mets win the series, not only with the Gurnee park temporarily change its name, but its famed Goliath roller coaster will be known as “GoMets.”

If the Cubs can pull off a stunner, their reward is having the New Jersey park changed to “Six Flags Great Cubs,” and its signature ride the Kingda Ka to “Kingda Cubs.”

The losing park will go back to its real name after Fright Fest, however.

The Cubs have had success in the past when it comes to adventure park bets. When they beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series, the American Thunder roller coaster in St. Louis became known as “Cubs Thunder.”
