'Torrential Downpours' Possible For Lake, McHenry Counties

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Lake and McHenry counties.

MCHENRY, LAKE COUNTIES, IL — The Chicago area could see flooding as more rain is in the forecast Monday and Tuesday. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for all Chicago-area counties, including Lake and McHenry counties, with an "elevated flooding risk" in the forecast through Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Chicago-area counties south of McHenry and Lake counties, including Cook, Kane and DuPage counties, are under a flash flood watch through 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Torrential downpours and thunderstorms are expected to move through northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana on Monday and Tuesday, drenching already-saturated ground. This could lead to flash flooding of ditches, farm fields and roadways, according an early morning update Monday from the National Weather Service.
