Walk-Ins 'Welcome' At Fairgrounds Vaccination Site Starting May 1
Walk ins will be offered during the afternoon hours on select dates starting Saturday at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The mass vaccination site at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake will start offering walk-in availability on Saturday.
“We have finally reached the point of having sufficient vaccine supply in Lake County,” said Mark Pfister, executive director of the Lake County Health Department, in a statement Friday. “If you have an opening in your afternoon, stop by the Fairgrounds, bring along your family, and get your shots. If you’re hoping for a more normal summer, don’t delay—the sooner we all get vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to doing the things we enjoy.”
The shots will be offered to those walking in at the fairgrounds, at 1060 E. Peterson Road in Grayslake, during specified afternoon hours on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Here is a look at when you can walk in and get your shot:

Children who are 16 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive their vaccine. The Lake County Health Department provides COVID-19 vaccines at no cost and does not bill health insurance, and you do not need to be a U.S. citizen to get vaccinated, according to health officials.
Walk-in availability is based on the number of vaccine doses available and the number of people walking in each day. If there are no walk-in openings available, staff will help residents register and schedule an appointment for a later date.
Meanwhile, health officials say scheduling an appointment through the health department's AllVax system is the best option for ensuring you get your vaccine at a scheduled time.
Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 847-377-8130. Currently, AllVax appointments are available at the Lake County Fairgrounds and the Regional Vaccination Site at 102 W. Water Street, Waukegan.
Thousands of appointments are also available at community vaccination sites listed at www.lakecountyil.gov/vaccine and on the state of Illinois Vaccine Locator.
