1 New Virus Case Each In Hinsdale And Clarendon Hills

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills each saw one new coronavirus case in the last week, according to county agencies. These are the lowest case increases since last summer.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,650 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. The village saw five new cases a week earlier.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 875 as of Sunday. The village saw two new cases a week earlier.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 59 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 93.6 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 81.7 in Darien, 88.2 in La Grange Park, 91.7 in DuPage County, 94.3 in Elmhurst, 98.9 in Western Springs, 100 in Clarendon Hills, 102.1 in suburban Cook County, 104.4 in Burr Ridge and 120.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,388,688, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,133.

Nationally, 33.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.2 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 598,713 people have died from the virus in the United States.
