$11K In Cash Stolen From Cabinet: Hinsdale Cops

Contractors were in the house during the time in question, police say.

HINSDALE, IL — In the last few days, Hinsdale police have handled cases involving stolen valuables, damage, drugs and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

Valuable stolen

  • A resident reported that $11,000 in cash went missing from a file cabinet between Feb. 7 and March 20 in the 800 block of South Madison Street. Contractors had been in the house during this time.
  • A watch valued at $20,000 was stolen from a bedroom closet between Jan. 15 and March 13 at a house in the 100 block of East Fifth Street. Contractors had been in the house during this time. The theft was reported March 16.

Damage

  • The lawn and turf at Brook Park, 776 E. Third St., were damaged between Dec. 14 and March 16. Broken glass was found in the turf.
  • Someone spray-painted graffiti on the street, sidewalk, guardrail and trees between 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Saturday at 57th and Madison streets.

Resisting

  • Teaira Brehana Cole, 19, of Plainfield, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at 57th Street and County Line Road on charges of resisting or obstructing a police officer and speeding. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

Drugs

  • Evelyn Herrera, 20, of Northlake, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. March 12 at Route 83 and Chicago Avenue on a felony charge of possession of at least a fifth of a pound of marijuana. She was stopped for speeding. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DUIs

  • Rufus Dwayne Brown, 59, of Lisle, was arrested shortly before midnight Friday at Ogden Avenue and Route 83 on charges of DUI (drugs) and improper lane use. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Maribel Lozano, 40, of Oak Lawn, was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 10 block of East 55th Street on charges of DUI and improper lane use. She refused testing to determine her blood-alcohol content. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
