Burr Ridge Resident Wins $1 Million Illinois Lottery Prize
The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway in Burr Ridge.

Burr Ridge, IL - A lucky Burr Ridge resident won $1 million in Wednesday's Powerball drawing.
Jadwiga Nowakowska matched the first five numbers – 10 – 12 – 13 – 46 –50 – (21) – in the March 16 drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery.
“I randomly chose some numbers a few months ago and I’ve been playing them ever since. I never imagined they would be so lucky!” Nowakowska said at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Chicago.

Nowakowska was at home when she checked the winning Powerball numbers on the Illinois Lottery website.
“I kept saying, ‘Yes, yes, yes’, as I saw each number on my ticket match. I couldn’t believe I won! I called my daughter immediately to share the news!” Nowakowska said.

Nowakowska, who has three children and two grandchildren, plans to invest for her grandchildren's education.
The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway, 9059 Route 83 in Burr Ridge. The retailer received a bonus of $10,000, which is 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
