Clarendon Hills Sees Lowest Virus Rate Hike Since September

No new coronavirus deaths are reported in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills both saw small numbers of new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,629 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 11 from a week before, or a 0.7 percent hike. The village saw a 0.6 percent hike the week before.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 867 as of Sunday, up two from a week before, or a 0.2 percent increase. The village saw a 1.4 percent hike the previous week.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total still at 60 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 92.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 80.7 in Darien, 85.3 in La Grange Park, 90.1 in DuPage County, 93.4 in Elmhurst, 94.4 in Western Springs, 99.1 in Clarendon Hills, 100.8 in suburban Cook County, 103.7 in Burr Ridge and 117.9 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,375,808, up 0.9 percent from a week earlier. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 22,623.

Nationally, 32.9 million people have caught the virus, up 0.7 percent from the week before. A total of 586,535 people have died from the virus in the United States.
