DUI Arrest, Valuable Coin Theft: Hinsdale Cops
An Oak Brook man is arrested after he was found slumped behind wheel, police say.
HINSDALE, IL – In the last week, Hinsdale police handled cases involving a DUI, a valuable coin theft, a damaged house, fraud, stolen bicycles and damage at an institute. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
DUI
- Paul F. Arthurs, 55, of Oak Brook, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at 55th and Madison streets on charges of DUI and stopping, parking or standing in the roadway. He was seen slumped at the wheel in traffic, police said. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Valuable coin stolen

- A chain and coin valued between $4,000 and $7,000 was stolen from a house between May 13 and June 29 at a house in the 10 block of North Stough Street. The victim told police he had contractors in his house during the timeframe. The case is pending.
House damaged
- Two light fixtures were damaged between June 25 and June 27 at a house in the 700 block of South Oak Street.
Fraud

- A resident in the 500 block of North Lincoln Street made a $400 purchase on eBay on June 20. The resident did not receive the item and was given a false tracking number for shipment. The crime was reported June 29.
- A resident in the 10 block of Sharron Street said someone made $713 in fraudulent charges on a credit card between June 1 and July 1. The case is pending.
Bikes stolen
- A bicycle valued at $1,500 was stolen from a bike rack about 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the 10 block of South Washington Street.
- A bicycle valued at $500 was stolen about 9:30 p.m. July 2 in the Madison Elementary School parking lot, 611 S. Madison St. It was later found at Sixth and Vine streets and returned to the victim.
Institute damaged
- Shattered glass was reported about 9 p.m. Saturday at the Institute in Basic Life Principles, 707 W. Ogden Ave. Eggs were thrown at the building. The case is pending.
