Former Resident Charged With Clarendon Hills Gun Theft

Caplice moved from Clarendon Hills to Chicago about two months ago.

James Caplice, formerly a resident of Clarendon Hills, has been charged in the Sept. 26 theft of a gun from village property.

Caplice, 29, of the 1400 block of Summerdale Ave. in Chicago, stole the gun from a lawyer’s office, the Pioneer Press reported. He was charged with burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police said they recognized Caplice, who moved to Chicago from Clarendon Hills about two months ago, from having previous contact with him and seeing him on video surveillance from the office building at 115 55th St.

Police said the 9-mm handgun was stolen from under a desk in the office around 2:38 p.m. Sept. 26. It was in a case at the time.
