Hinsdale Central Track Coach Will Be Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

Richards will be one of seven coaches inducted into the Hall of Fame in January.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale Central coach Pat Richards will be inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The school said Richards has been the Head Girls Track and Field coach since 1990.

According to the school, before Richards, Hinsdale Central had never won a conference championship. They have now won 10 indoor conference and 10 outdoor conference championships. The team won the IHSA state title in 1990 and the team took third place in 2016.

The school said Richards has led teams to 10 sectional titles. His athletes have earned 48 IHSA state medals. Individuals have won 38 medals, relay teams have won 30 medals, and twice, Central runners have won state championships.

Richards will be one of seven coaches inducted into the Hall of Fame in January. The school said each of the candidates considered was evaluated by focusing on the three C’s–coaching record, contribution to the sport outside of coaching, and character.
